Norfolk's Vice Mayor works to stop youth violence (From MSNBC)

Norfolk's Vice Mayor is taking on gang violence among our youth, and he's getting the community involved.

Anthony Burfoot will head up a series of town meetings this month to educate parents, school officials and young people.

The meetings will include information about what parents should look for in and around their homes. Burfoot also wants to show the young people repurcussions of gang violence.

Burfoot says, "It's not just a policing problem. It's not just an individual problem. It's a community problem. So, the way that we get t it is to have these town hall meetings and share this information."

The first meeting will be May 21 at Titus Town Recreation Center. The others are as follows: May 24 at Norview High School, May 29 at Maury High School, and May 31 at Ruffner Middle School. All meetings begin at 7 p.m.
